Privacy Policy — iOS
Morning View is built to be glanced at, not to watch you. The iPhone companion app collects as little as possible, keeps it on your device wherever it can, and never sells or shares your data with advertisers.
What the app uses
Calendars and reminders. With your permission, Morning View reads events from the Apple Calendar calendars you select and reminders from the Reminders lists you select, to show your schedule and to-dos. This data is processed on your device and synced to your Apple TV via your personal iCloud account. If you connect a Google account, your Google Calendar events are fetched directly from Google by each of your devices (see "Google user data" below). We never receive any calendar or reminder data on our servers.
Work addresses. If you add a work address for drive times, it's synced to your Apple TV via your personal iCloud account, where it's used to estimate the drive. The iPhone app doesn't use your device's location.
Google user data
Morning View can connect to your Google account so your Google Calendar events appear on your dashboard. This section explains exactly what that involves.
What we access. When you connect a Google account, Morning View requests one permission: read-only access to Google Calendar (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly). This lets the app read your list of calendars and the events on the calendars you choose. Morning View cannot create, change or delete anything in your Google account, and it does not access Gmail, Contacts, Drive, Tasks or any other Google service.
How we use it. Calendar data is used only to show your calendars and upcoming events on your Morning View dashboard: today's schedule, the Calendar page, and countdowns to events you tag with #countdown. We use it for nothing else.
Where it's stored. Calendar events are fetched directly from Google by the app on your iPhone and Apple TV and kept only in the app's local cache on those devices. They are never sent to our servers or to anyone else. So that you don't have to sign in on your TV separately, the app saves your Google sign-in credential (an OAuth refresh token), the name you give the account, and the calendars you selected in your personal iCloud account (iCloud Key-Value Storage). That lets your own devices signed in to the same Apple ID use the connection. Apple stores this data under your iCloud account; we can't access it.
Sharing. We don't share, sell or transfer Google user data to anyone. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't use it to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models. No person at Morning View reads your calendar data.
How it's protected. Every request between Morning View and Google is made directly from your device over encrypted HTTPS (TLS). You sign in on Google's own page, so the app never sees your Google password. Your Google sign-in credential is stored in the Apple Keychain, which encrypts it on the device, makes it readable only by Morning View, and keeps it on that device (it is not synced through iCloud Keychain). The copy that lets your Apple TV connect without a second sign-in is kept in your private iCloud account, which Apple encrypts in transit and at rest; only Morning View on devices signed in to your Apple ID can read it. Calendar events stay inside the app's sandboxed storage on your devices, which the operating system isolates from other apps. Morning View runs no servers, so there is no database of Google data that we, or anyone who breached us, could access.
How long it's kept. Calendar events are kept only as long as needed to show your dashboard. The app refreshes them from Google every 15 minutes or so and replaces the old copy; it doesn't keep a history. Your sign-in credential is kept until you disconnect the account, revoke access at Google, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its data from that device, and any sign-in credential left in the device's Keychain is erased if the app is ever reinstalled. Because none of your Google data is stored on our servers, there is nothing held by us to delete. If you have questions about your data, email privacy@morningview.app.
Removing access. Disconnecting a Google account in the iPhone app's Settings deletes that account's credential from your iPhone, from your iCloud sync data, and from any Apple TV it was shared with; disconnecting on Apple TV removes it from that TV. To cut off access immediately on every device, revoke Morning View at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. The credential then stops working everywhere at once. Deleting the app removes all of its locally cached data.
Limited Use. Morning View's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we don't do
No ads, no ad tracking, no data brokers, no selling or renting your information. We don't build profiles of you. The only diagnostics we receive are the anonymous crash reports Apple shares with developers when you've opted in through your device's Analytics settings.
Purchases
Morning View Pro is billed through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
Your choices
Every permission (calendars and reminders) is optional and revocable in iOS Settings at any time — the app degrades gracefully without them. To remove a connected Google account, disconnect it in Settings or revoke access at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
